About the plant :

Cousin to fine lavender, its name comes from the asp viper, as it has been used since antiquity to treat snake bites. Pliny the Elder mentions it in his works, and it is classified as a “precious” plant. But in the past, lavender aspic essential oil was used as a thinner for oil paints.
