PINUS PINASTER

Pinus pinaster is a species of conifer in the Pinaceae family. Its buds and the essential oil extracted from its needles are sometimes used to make syrups, infusions and cough drops. In France, tar extracted from pines was a strategic material in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, when the navy took off. Turpentine, the pure resin, is also extracted from maritime pine.
