About the plant :

Originally, this plant from the steppes of Central Asia was known as dragon herb. The serpentine shape of the tarragon root led herbalists to believe that it could cure the bites of venomous animals. Hence the Greek word drakon (dragon), the Arabic tarkhum (little dragon) and the Latin name for the species: dracunculus (little dragon). It has always been the subject of myths and legends. On a more serious note, it is known to have been used by Arab doctors for its properties as early as 1000 AD.
