Of the Myrtaceae family, the Eucalyptus is native to Australia, the aborigines used the sap of Eucalyptus or "gum tree" in direct application or wash on their wounds to hasten the healing. Called "The Fever Tree," it has the rare virtue of cleaning up its neighbourhood. It was described in 1792 by the French naturalist Julien Houtou de La Billardière.
