About the plant :

During antiquity it was the symbol of Apollo, the crown of the victors, kings, poets, sages, geniuses and also students at the end of studies from where the name, baccalauréat, bacca laurea means bay of Laurier. It is a symbol of glory, victory, triumph but also of immortality, victory and light.

Here are some properties of Laurel :

  • The leaves are rich in carbohydrates and dietary fiber. Laurel is also rich in vitamins A, B, C and D, calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium.

  • It has the advantage of stimulating lazy stomachs. These faculties are appreciated against lack of appetite but also mild nervous disorders, when these affect digestion and cause stomach pain. It helps to reduce bloating.

  • Often advised by herbalists, especially in cold periods, it participates in the treatment of viral diseases. It also soothes pain related to angina. Finally, it has antiseptic properties, hence its use in marinades, so that they do not turn.

  • Externally, Laurel calms joint pain. Used in decoction and lotion, it intervenes in hair and skin care.

Laurel is the basis of the famous “bouquet garni” of French cuisine. it perfumes short broths, crustaceans, fish, marinades, stews, daubes, white meats, pasta and terrines.
