It is also an ingredient in Provençal herbs. Banned from convents in the Middle Ages, it was known as the ‘devil's herb’ because of its stimulating and aphrodisiac properties.

In the kitchen, Savory is indispensable for aiding digestion of cabbage and all starchy foods. It can be used in sauces, pizzas, stews, pork, mutton, rabbit and goat's cheese.
