It is also an ingredient in Provençal herbs. Banned from convents in the Middle Ages, it was known as the ‘devil's herb’ because of its stimulating and aphrodisiac properties. According to Dionysus, it was the ‘herb of happiness’ because of its aphrodisiac properties.
