Cornflower was also known as "centaur herb" after Chiron, Achilles' tutor, who used it to treat wounds. In ancient times, it was used to treat blue eyes, while plantain was used to treat dark eyes. In the 12th century, it was nicknamed " glasses breaker " because it was used to treat eye ailments.
