About the plant :

Peppermint is a hybrid of two mints, Watermint and Spearmint. Known since ancient Egypt, traces of it have been found in the pyramids. It was used as a condiment in Greco-Roman times and is linked to the nymph Minthê, who was changed into Mint and trampled on by Persephone's mother in Greek mythology. It was only in the 18th century that it began to be used successfully to treat colds, respiratory tracts, etc.
