About the plant :

"Lavender is the soul of Haute Provence" said Jean Giono. Since ancient times, this little blue flower has been renowned for its purifying and soothing properties. In Roman times, it was used in perfumes, linen and baths for its disinfectant properties. In the 17th century, it was used as a fumigant to protect against contagious diseases, and by monks in monastery gardens and herbalist shops. It comes from the Latin lavare, meaning to wash or purify, and was also known as the "brain plant" for its soothing and calming properties, used to treat epileptic seizures and hysteria.
